Liminal Competition Ensembles

Liminal Dance Labs is a premier competitive dance studio in the Bay Area offering structured, high-level training for dancers who wish to commit to deep technical development and perform consistently throughout the season. As a leading competition dance studio in the East Bay, our Ensemble program blends rigorous technique, creative risk-taking, and professional performance standards.

Designed for dancers seeking a comprehensive competitive dance training experience, Liminal’s Competition Ensembles combine disciplined instruction with artistry, athleticism, and versatility across multiple styles.

Placement in Liminal’s Competition Ensembles is determined through studio evaluation and/or annual auditions. Minimum lab requirements may be adjusted on an individual basis at the discretion of the Artistic Director to ensure appropriate placement and dancer support.

Liminal Dance Labs offers three competitive Ensemble pathways:

Ensemble A — Performing Arts: Available age groups: 5-19. Performing Arts emphasizes contemporary ballet, modern, contemporary, and multiple jazz styles, supported by conditioning and acrodance. This pathway is ideal for dancers seeking competitive ballet and contemporary training with a focus on technical refinement, artistry, and performance readiness.

Ensemble B — Industrial Arts: Available age groups: 9-19. Industrial Arts is designed for dancers pursuing an industry-forward competitive edge. Training includes hip hop, tap, funk, choreography, dance for camera, and commercial-style performance. This pathway supports dancers preparing for professional and commercial opportunities. 

Ensemble C — Athletic Arts: Available age groups: 10-16. Athletic Arts focuses on jazz fusion and athletic performance training for dancers preparing for middle and high school drill teams. This pathway includes hip hop, POMS, and specialized labs that build advanced skills for dance team performance and competition.

Ensemble D — Theatrical Arts: COMING SOON

Each Ensemble dancer commits to a comprehensive season running September through May, which includes:

• Core technique classes and lab programming
   
• Weekly rehearsals
   
• Participation in regional competitions, conventions, and adjudicated events
   
• Select community and professional performance opportunities
